CA WFP Convention builds vision for Governing Power
More than 300 Working Families Party members, community and labor organization members and elected officials gathered in San Francisco from May 31st-June 2nd for our inaugural state convention and celebrate our first three years in California.
The gathering was a powerful relationship-building space, where different constituencies of the Party could meet each other, learn and build together. We are building a political home for Californians who believe government should represent everyday working Californians, not just billionaire corporations. The convention was also a power-building space, demonstrating the growth and institutional power the Party is building. CA WFP is emerging as an influential force in our goal to secure governing power for working people and build a bench of WFP elected champions across the state.
Speakers included Dolores Huerta, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, National Director Maurice Mitchell, Lorena Gonzalez of California Labor federation, Amber Bauer UFCW Western Council, Maria Maldonado, SEIU Fast Food Workers, Assembly members Tina McKinnor, Corey Jackson, Ash Kalra and Liz Ortega, former Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, and City Councilmembers from San Diego, LA, San Jose, Oakland more!
